Milan Travel Week 1

Milan, Italy Saturday, February 14, 2009 The bus pulled out of Paderno at 7 am. We took a city bus and it was full of kids on a Saturday which was quite strange. We made our way to Bassano, switched in Padova to eventually arrive in Milan. It took us an hour longer to walk to out hostel then it should have because someone gave us the wrong directions. We walked closes to 45 minutes out of the way to go around the city. Once settled in we freshened left for The Last Supper. On our journey to the painting we got on the wrong metro and went the wrong way because once again people don't know where stuff is in their own city. When we finally arrived there was a mistake with the tickets. The system printed one ticket for 4 people. We were issued tickets for another time if there was not space on our originally scheduled tour. Thankfully there was enough room for us. We saw it for only 15 minutes before being escorted out. The Last Supper was painted by Di Vinci on the wall. It is not a traditional painting in a frame. It has also been restored with water color and only obtains about 30% of the original paint. We went to the Duomo after and the glass ceiling area. We found a place to eat and I bought an Italian made scarf from Andrews’s Tie Co. They specialize in obviously ties and a few others. They take pride in selling only Italian made products. Once we had walked out a gentlemen in there came out and talked to me complementing me on my politeness, clean shave and that I didn't do drugs. He was French and had a few to drink. Before we parted ways he gave me a huge kiss on the cheek and said something about his bambina or daughter. We took the right way back to the hostel and called it a night. Note: To view pictures you must log into Snapfish for privacy reasons.
